RETROSPECTIVE EXHIBITION

The historic qualities and character of the salone of Palazzo della Ragione building presented a demanding design challenge for the cutting edge innovative architect. The building was constructed in 1172-1219 and is considered one of the most notable monuments in Padua. Hadid organized the exhibition according to the environment within the building, articulating the intrinsic contextual relationships of her work.

The exhibitions design respects the buildings qualities and history as the program creates Hadid’s distinctive liquid fluidity. The concept lying behind the well exhibited works is an interior urban landscape that should be considered as a large scale installation; a pixilated field defined by algorithmic formulae that introduce complexity and generate an interior urban condition. The existing space of the exhibition area has been transformed into a single fluid uninterrupted landscape that connects through the white individual fragments (projection stands) and clusters. The dynamic form created by the program represents the familiar bold contemporary Zaha Hadid design characteristic. Her organic forms are innovative, as this architect pushes design into new boundaries through new technology and material and never does the ordinary. When looking at the floor plan of the exhibition, it seems as if it extends into the space and prolongs its organic shape. The white irregular shaped exhibition stands stand out of the buildings grey mosaic floor, and lead the way like a valley extends into the mountains. As if the exhibition stands want to draw the attention of the viewer not only to the displays but also to present this historic buildings interior.

Mobile Blob VB3 Living room

An original room in the egg shape, designed by the Belgian company dmvA. It included a bathroom, a bed and several storage spaces. A frontage opens automatically to be used as door. The unit is mobile and can be used of office or guest room.

Lego Kitchen

It seems that quite a few things will benefit from a Scandinavian touch. Munchausen, a duo formed by Parisian designers Simon Pillard and Philippe Rosetti, took a bold approach with their own kitchen by venturing to IKEA for the basic kitchen island and then spending the next week covering it with more than 20,000 pieces by another Scandinavian brand, Lego

The result is a one-of-a-kind creation that serves as an artistic centerpiece for the space, in addition to functioning as a kitchen counter. Pillard, who works with fashion house JC de Castelbajac, and Rosetti who works with Hugo Boss France Identity, formed Munchhausen in 2004.

Leo Burnett Office by Minstry of Design

Singapore designers Ministry of Design have completed an office interior for an advertising agency that features a drawing of the company’s founder spread across the walls and floor, wielding a scaled-up model of a pencil.

Designed for advertising agency Leo Burnett and located in Singapore, the project is divided into three parts.

W Hotel Downtown Atlanta by Βurdifilek

Canadian design firm Βurdifilek has created an urban oasis within Atlanta’s newest W boutique hotel. The designers Diego Burdi & Paul Filek reinterpreted W Hotel Downtown with a verdant sanctuary that mimics the lushness of Georgia, while maintaining the brand’s celebrated cosmopolitan edge.

Nature Factory

Makoto Tanijiri of Hiroshima architects Suppose Design Office has completed an installation at the Diesel Denim Gallery Aoyama in Tokyo, Japan.

Called Nature Factory, the installation uses plastic plumbing pipes and joints to create a series of tree-like forms inside the store.
